Bank holidays

Another busy day at Caverswall,  most of the ladies
went to the Malvern show last week. Arriving with
lots of ideas and bargains. Particularly interesting
was a template for quilting. This is made by a
company in Malvern called Parrs. 2 kits were
bought and about 5 of the templates, so there

will be lots of fun  with those.
A super apron was made by Linda the
fabric came from the lady at SPQ.

These 2 pics are of Linda's bags these  fabrics
were bought at Malvern. These retro type
fabrics are very "in" at the moment. Memories
of Paris.

Irene started to quilt her Darth Vader quilt,
this will be gifted to a friend in the USA.
She also sandwiched a large quilt ,so big
she did it on the stage!

These 2 quilts are Val's both the same colours
but different !

This is a baby quilt for Snowy! The brownies have
drawn on the yellow squares, it was only a
small matter adding the squares to the
embroidery. To say we had a puzzle is
an understatement. I know Angie has the
mathematics to work this out, so have I,
at home! Eventually it had to come home
to  be sorted. It will be plain sailing from
now  on (please.)

Annette has bought a pattern of a kisses quilt
she made good headway with the blocks.
The panel below is Annettes also a really
lovely American Cuppie doll

Annettes Darth Vader quilt finished, the back
which I forgot to photo has skulls on,
gruesome!

As for me , I'm working on a quilt for
the raffle next week. I do have another
just in case I can't finish it.
Belt and braces I think.

Another quicky bag  was made by Marion.
These are really popular, so pretty.

Summer stitching.

As we are in the later stages of the month of May,
I personally will be glad to see a new month.
To say that May was eventful would be an
understatement. We have had some sunshine,
lots of awful rain and storms, holidays that were
shortened. 2 bank holidays and a birthday for
son in law. Meals out, drinks in and inches on hips.
Now the payback starts, sewing to catch up on

and a table top sale to sort out.

Annette has been sandwiching her bargello quilt, only
the quilting to complete now. She has been sewing
other things at the same time. Which is something
 most people do.

This is a Darth Vader panel, two ladies are working
on these, Annette and Irene.

This is Marions quick baby quilt, seen on the
internet, you should sew the sides onto the front
panel. Flip over and sew the back. then turn
through . Unfortunately it became very complex
for us so we did a "fudge", It is sewn in baby
flannel so will be really cosy.

Cathie has been trying lots of new projects
she has been embroidering  Pluto, a Disney
cartoon dog. A medal for versatility I think.

These are another set of the very popular
make up bags. All very beautiful and different.
 Irene enjoyed making these two.

Marilla was fussy cutting these lovely sunflowers.
Always hand sewn  and very distinctly "Marilla"

This is one of the 2 baby quilts that I
started some weeks ago. I'm making this
one for my cousin in Wales , who has just
become a grandparent again. I've not done
much sewing this month gardening and
other things have taken over.

Better late than never.

Quilting at Caverswall on Wednesday turned out to be quite unusual,
I arrived late so the ladies started without me. Lots of sewing and
the usual laughter. A new pack of patterns had arrived for the
Lutterloh dress designer system, so we're itching to start that. It is a
system to design your own body pattern using just 2 measurements,
your bust and hip, from there you can draft any of the patterns in the
catalogue. As the hall has had new double glazing and we are now
light and bright we want to have new curtains.  A lady named Dorothy
kindly bequeathed a large sum of money to the hall, to be used for this
purpose. We have had a good quote and to ensure a really nice quality,
the fire proofing, and the making up, we decided to raise more funds
ourselves. All the usual ideas, we came up with a tabletop sale. This is
to take place on Sunday June 5th. Traders in at 8.00am, doors open at
9.00am--- 1.00pm. We are looking for lots of local support as these
ladies work so hard to help fund the hall with donations to the raffles,
providing the paint and the time, to spruce up the place. They have also
almost got the web page up and running. Thanks to the initial work
by Gilly Wood ,who started the ball rolling with the web design. It
is now been redesigned and instated by a guy named Leigh Silcock.
watch this space!!!

These are my works in progress (amongst many others)
these pics should have been at the end , I need more skills on
this machine!!

These are our new windows!

Marrilla has hand stitched this quilt top for a young man,
it's so bright and cheerful he will be really pleased.

I only managed to get this shot of Kate's work in progress.
Having brought a new sewing machine for one of her
grand daughters she was making a bag in this beautiful blue
fabric. She has become our very own bag queen|

Linda was also making bags, look at the fabulous diamond zip.
This was purchased at Nantwich market, unfortunately
the lady only had the one zip. We went on Thursday as it was
such a nice day. Sadly the lady hadn't been able to get any
more.On the internet you can buy them under the heading
Rhinestone zippers, they are sold mostly for dance wear.

Annie pie has been making shopping bags for ages, she made this one
Dont you think it so retro , such a simple design yet stunning.
