Bright new room!

Well today we entered a bright new room,
the builders have been in to replace the
windows. what a difference this has made.

The 1st 4 pics are Beryl's arty pieces, these are her chosen
methods of quilting. crazy quilting inspired by a visit
to the V&A a few years ago. All sorts of beautiful embroidery
lace and glitzy bits go to enhance her work. This will
become a bed cover , another for the family to inherit.
The last of the 4 will be a book cover for herself,
to include precious photos of family.

Another block to Cathy's quilt top, she really has taken to scrap
piecing, not always easy for tidy minds.

This is a beautiful quilt top by Annette, all fussy cut
Back country type prints, so striking, quite a manly
quilt .

This is one of the panels from the lady at SPQ, last week
these will be made into cushions by Irene, such a bargain.

Marissabelle has returned for a visit so she is making
table mats a cloth for one of her sons, the fabric is from
USA.  She's using Batiks and applique to create them.
 Lucky son and wife.

Chris is on the final bit of her baby quilt, already to
quilt at home and finish,  then to start  on her  new
baby girls quilty things. The little girl will be with us
very soon .

Annie pie brought lots of bags , we are on a bag theme just
lately, question is, Who's the bag queen?  I some times feel
like a bag lady, carrying everything on Wednesdays.
Thank goodness Malc's now retired to help, we keep finding
little jobs at the hall for him, just to stop him getting
bored!!!

As I said, anothe quicky bag.So easy.

Another busy day.

Visiters galore, chocolates and cake, another birthday
celebration, fabrics for sale and the return of old friends.
What could be better, as a small group of sewing

friends we have such an enjoyable time.
This cushion is one  of a set or 4, made by Margaret
from some of the design shop fabrics.

These 2 quilts have been made by Marion bikes,
knowing that she had been not feeling too well
we were surprised how much she had achieved
from her sick bed!!

As a gifted piece of fabric covered in bikes, who else would
tackle such a large travel bag? Marion is such a busy lady
traveling all over the place so she will really enjoy
taking this with her ,attracting admiring glances no doubt .

Linda has been working on these 2 scrap quilts so
bright and cheerful.

Kate has been sandwiching her butterfly quilt this has become
a lovely quilt for some lucky  person.

These 2 pics show the beginning and the final finished
Charlie bag. These are a Debbie Shore pattern and a little
confusing to begin but usually by the time you try the second
one you know what to do. These have been made by Kate.

This is another quilt by Linda, only the ends to sew in now.

These stars are part of a sampler quilt that Marilla has
started,  she goes to a group with Barbara Chainey.

This  has been made with left overs from Chris's
baby quilt,  she is on track now to finish it.
At Uttoxeter she hopes to buy fabric for her
coming new granddaughter.

Cathy's scrap quilt is going well, along with all the other
doggy quilts.

This is Irene's Charlie bag , covered in beautiful birds.

These 3 bags have been made from the design
shop fabrics, Margaret came again today with a
car full , it's almost like Xmas each time she arrives.

These are quicky bags, just needs half yard each
top and lining. So quick to make already lined
with only the turning gap to sew after pulling
through. i made these 2 today.

Another sale day.

Well another day at Caverswall, we expected
a quiet day, how things change. We had cake
for Beryls birthday, Irene brought even more
fabrics from the lady at SPQ. Later in the
morning we had a car full of fabrics from
the curtain shop.( I really should say The
interior design shop at Porthill) Then I had

all the baby quilts from Marjory WHOW!
This is one more of Beryls quilts for the  care home,
beautiful batiks, the fishy backing from the SPQ lady.
These have become very handy as lots of male
hobby fabrics  have been well received by the
guys in the home.

Beryl again on a roll, this was quilted today
it will be completed this week so she can donate
for the bank holiday week end.

Another one for Beryl, She says using all her fabrics
for these quilts is very therapeutic, except that she
bought even more today

This is one of my long term projects, I started this one
when we had a new caravan. About 7 years ago.
It's all hand stitched diamonds, about single size.
I added a plain border and hope to layer it this week.
Maybe it will get finished this year.

OUR WORKSHOP.

Today was our special workshop with Nikki Parmenter, a textile artist from Macclesfield.
The samples that she brought to show us were absolutely stunning. As we viewed her work
she was explaining how we would make the fabrics, this was all about layering and embellishing.

These are all the first fabric making pieces, synthetics and sheers
all things that glitter , total bling!

This fabulous elephant is free standing and about
3ftx4ft.

All these are the samples that Nikki brought . This one
is part of a group depicting religious stained glass, to
be displayed in a church.

This one was 10ft long.

The owl and the pussy cat.

Lots of this work in 3D.

This turtle is big enough to be  a pouffe.

These are about love and includes love birds, the rise of
Venus,Adam and Eve and lots more.

This is part of a range of birds.

This owl is really beautiful, the trainers are  there
for scale.

After making a piece of fabric, using scraps etc,
we soldered the fabric together, we then cut out
petals and a center, added lots of beads then hot
glued the flowers together. All who took part
really enjoyed the day. So much so that we have
asked Nikki to come again later in the year,
hopefully to make 3D frogs or Peacock,

Irene has added this gold border to her quilt, also another
blue border.

These are luxury bags from the fabric samples off the lady
at the curtain shop,  Linda really has nailed making these.
