Another sale day!

Today even more fabrics came to our quilt class.
Some from SPQ, Some from Annie pie, bargains
galore. It's been quite a busy day, not many photos

but lots of gossip.
These are the beanie babies donated to Donna Louise
today by Irene. Annie pie has taken all these and the
 quilts for us .

The ladies make these when they have a spare moment.
At the hospice they do appreciate them and always
 send thank you letters.

This is Margaret's panic quilt, the birth is imminent so
she called into The trading post last week , they were
so wonderful and quilted it for so quickly with a
beautiful clouds pattern.

This is Irene's Bargello ,not sure at the moment whether
it will be a wall hanging or a large cushion, time will tell.

I saw this block on the web, think its called a split pinwheel
any way ,make a half sq, pinwheel, cut into 3 both directions
and re assemble in various ways for a quick  and effective
block, these started as 9.5 sq. if  rearrange the outer blocks
it becomes a piwheel and churndash!

MARCH 10th 2016

Cathy has been trying another type of scrap quilting,
Crazy patchwork onto a foundation fabric. This can be
confusing to  some people who like things orderly.

Chris has been making split 9 patch blocks for her
scrappy baby quilt. All in shades of pink and white
for the new baby girl who is due in the spring.

Irene's beautiful peacock coloured quilt is really
taking shape now,it seems like a single bed size,
she is really enjoying making this.

This panel was part of fabric brought to us from a lady
at SPQ. beautiful pastel teddy's, Jenny is making a quilt
for a "mother and baby home". Our group has added this
home to our list of recipients for any spare quilts and
bargain baby buys. Personally my family haven't had any
babies to enjoy for 29 years , how things can change.

This is Annettes Bargello quilt, started with
Barbara Chainey. Its a single size and just
needs 2 borders to frame the pattern. So striking
and a credit to her perseverance , when you do
a workshop you only have time to do a section.
I know that it is so easy to forget what you are
doing and it becomes a ufo.

This is my Baltimore type quilt almost finished quilting.
As it has lots of embroidery I just wonder how practical
it will be. I dont think it will take a lot of washing,
maybe one just to look at.

I went shopping for our baby Jasmine at the weekend,
only for bits and pieces. As her mum Sam
likes designer names, my husband questioned using
Aldi bags? not likely. I had 1 1/2 hours before
or Mothers day gathering so had to make this.
It is a teddy storage bag. Not big enough  so a
request today for something else !!!

SORTED

This lovely table cloth was started by Marion bikes  many
years ago. She had had an accident on her bike, this was to keep
her busy while recuperating. Quite difficult  with an injured
arm.Needless to say she left it unfinished for a few years.
Now completed, it will take pride of place this Easter.
She will be celebrating with her great granddaughter Lucy.

This cushion was first made for Marion's Grand daughter
many years ago, just stitched together. On a recent holiday
to Llandudno she found  the cushion top below,  with  very
similar patterns around the border. This meant unpicking
the original cushion, quilting  and Trapunto to both.
This will create an almost matching pair.
The Rocking horse has a great  significance
to Marion and her family as Marion's husband made
a large one for her late granddaughter. A very busy and
clever biker  lady!

MARCH 3rd 2016

Under Jenny's instruction, Annette completed this
make up bag. She then continued  Bargello quilt.

Margaret finished quilting her large trendy cushion then
started on the next one. These are so striking and clean
looking.

These are Beryls latest Twiddles. She has made 40 or so
upto now. They are to be taken to North Staffs Carers at Fenton.
She has been attending the group meetings,  these muffs have
lots of touchy feely objects sewn into them. Things like buttons,
bobbles ,silks, rings, velvet, buckles. Almost any thing tactile.
.
Cathy is really practicing recycling, all her scraps are being
chopped into useable sizes, these she will make into doggie quilts.

Kate has been making fabric bags , these are to hold birthday
gifts. A much nicer way to give a present. Also note the
use of Laura Ashley fabrics. I have the yellow one in my
stash, I'm not ready to cut into mine yet. I've loved it for
 so long ,happy times.

Linda has been sewing a cool bag, using some of the donated
fabrics. The edges are to be bound in the reverse fabic to
create a contrast. The lining is a thermal fleece to keep
things cool. Angies quilt shop in Cheadle sells this, easy to
sew and invaluable to keep butties cool in the coming, very,
hot summer!!!!

This is my Hearts and Flowers quilt. Finished, a Donna Louise
quilt, using fabrics left over from the quilt below.

This started at Christmas time, I was in a pink mood.  Its a split
9 patch, having saved lots of roses fabric over time , the result
is very pink , therefore named Pink I think!

Another donated fabric quilt for Donna Louise, Pooh had been
fussy cut by some one so I just "fudged to fit ". I should have it
quilted and bound by next week as the gifting is set for the
week before Easter. I do have Marion bikes work to show,
just a bit daunted with pics at moment. I will sort out asap.
Thanking everyone for a really enjoyable and fun day.
